Rensselaer, IN – Semi Collides with Deer on I-65, Results in Road Departure

Rensselaer, IN – Early this morning, a semi-truck collided with a deer on Interstate 65 near Rensselaer, resulting in the vehicle veering off the road. 

According to Rensselaer Volunteer Firefighters responding to the scene the incident occurred at approximately 4:32 AM between the 220 and 223 mile markers on the northbound lane. 

According to local authorities, the deer was killed upon impact, and the semi came to a halt near a wooded area adjacent to the highway. Emergency response teams were on site shortly after the accident, and details on any disruptions to traffic flow or additional injuries are still forthcoming.
