MOROCCO, IN – A grave accident transpired Thursday morning on US 41 and SR 14 when a semi-tractor, driven by a 31-year-old woman from Bourbonnais, IL, intersected the path of a southbound motor home, allegedly sparking a chain-reaction crash.

According to Newton County Sheriff’s Police, preliminary findings from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office suggest the Bourbonnais driver failed to yield, causing the motor home, piloted by a 70-year-old Lake Village man with his 73-year-old wife aboard, to collide with her semi. This impact propelled both vehicles into another stationary semi.

While the motor home’s driver suffered severe injuries and was rushed to a Chicago hospital, his wife tragically succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The semi drivers, including the woman from Bourbonnais, declined medical attention.

The identities of those involved have not yet been released.

Details remain under wraps as investigations continue, and the southbound lanes experienced a six-hour closure post-crash. The Newton County Sheriff’s Office encourages those with information to reach out.
