NEW LENOX, Ill. — Police have obtained arrest warrants this week for two men believed to be responsible for a daring jewelry store burglary.

Amarion Ash, 18 of Oak Lawn, and Marquis Thomas, 23 of Calumet City, are now wanted on charges of burglary, theft, and criminal damage to property. The burglary took place in March at Cornerstone Jewelers on Lincoln Highway.

According to investigators, surveillance footage showed a gray four-door Infiniti pulling up to the business at midnight March 1st. Three suspects then exited the vehicle while the driver remained inside. One of the suspects hurled a brick through the front door, allowing them to gain entry and steal jewelry from the display cases. They quickly fled the scene in the Infiniti.

Officers responding to the alarm would go on to discover a shattered front glass door and damaged display cases.

The suspects have also been connected to other smash-and-grab style burglaries across the Chicago suburbs, including a jewelry store in Frankfort on March 9, 2023.

Investigators report the duo would later be arrested the next day by Calumet City Police after an alleged burglary at a cell phone store.  It was a short time later police determined the pair had been also responsible for the Cornerstone Jewelers burglary in New Lenox.

Ash was reportedly found in possession of jewelry stolen during the Frankfort burglary, and additional jewelry recovered during the investigation was linked to Cornerstone Jewelers.

While the warrants have been obtained for Ash and Thomas, New Lenox Police continue their efforts to identify the remaining individuals involved in the burglaries.

Will and Cook County Sheriff’s Departments are providing assistance to the New Lenox Police Department in serving the arrest warrants. Each suspect has a bond has been set at $150,000.

Anyone with information related to this case or the identification of additional offenders is urged to contact the New Lenox Police Department.
