ROMEOVILLE, IL – The Romeoville community has come together in support of Officer Dominic Thielmann, who was critically injured in the line of duty during a pursuit earlier this week.

A GoFundMe campaign was launched to assist Officer Thielmann and his family with the unforeseen medical expenses and the financial burdens that come with his recovery.

As of Sunday morning, the campaign has already raised an impressive $63,000, well on its way to reaching its $75,000 goal.

Officer Dominic Thielmann, along with his fellow officers, engaged in a foot chase with a suspect related to an armed robbery and stolen vehicle investigation. During the pursuit, Officer Thielmann was shot in the shoulder, with the bullet exiting under his chin and causing a skull fracture. He is now receiving treatment at the Loyola University Medical Center Intensive Care Unit.

The suspect was arrested a short time later in a nearby neighborhood and is now being held on a $5M bond.

The funds raised through the campaign will go directly towards covering the medical expenses and supporting Officer Thielmann’s family during this challenging time. The support will also enable his wife and young son to remain by his side throughout the recovery process.
