GARY, Ind. — The City of Gary Police Department is preparing to host a mammoth auction event with more than 100 vehicles spread across three distinct sites on October 21, 2023. Eager participants can begin their viewing at 8:30 a.m., with the first hammer dropping at Republic Towing, 7500 Melton Rd., promptly at 9 a.m. Bidders will move on to S&S Towing at 3651 W 4th Ave., followed by Bennies Towing at 2160 W. 10th Ave.

State-issued identification is essential to be a top bidder. All payments are cash-only, due immediately post-auction at each tow yard. Bidders should note vehicles are sold “as-is” with no guarantees, and keys might not be available. Vehicles from the years 2013 and newer have a starting bid of $500, while those from 2012 and earlier begin at $350. Successful bidders will initially pay $350 to the tow yard, with an additional $40 franchise fee, and the remaining balance going directly to the City of Gary.

Some notable vehicles include a 2015 Jeep Patriot, a 2008 Chevy Tahoe, a 2019 Kia Optima, and many more from brands like Dodge, Ford, Hyundai, and Lexus. All vehicles are numbered on the windshield, and the auction will proceed in numerical order.

Those interested can preview a few vehicles and their VINs from each site on the Gary Police Department’s official website. Remember, this is a chance to snag a vehicle at potentially a fraction of its market price. Don’t miss out on this incredible deal!
