Matteson, IL – The Illinois State Police have announced the arrest of a Matteson man, Calvin D. Woods, allegedly involved in a fatal shooting on Interstate 94.
According to authorities, the 32-year-old is charged with two counts of first-degree murder related to the August 2023 incident that led to the death of Travon M. Mackie.
Following a comprehensive investigation, Woods was allegedly connected to the shooting and was taken into custody on February 22, 2024, in a joint operation with the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service. The incident in question occurred near Dolton Road, where a collision of multiple vehicles led to the discovery of Mackie with critical gunshot wounds.
Woods awaits a pre-trial detention hearing as the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office prepares to prosecute the case. The public is reminded that the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
