Richfield, MN – Best Buy is issuing a widespread recall for Insignia brand air fryers and air fryer ovens after multiple reports of the units overheating, with some instances leading to fires.Â
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, about 187,400 units in the U.S., and an additional 99,900 in Canada, are affected by potential fire, burn, and laceration hazards. The recall, announced on March 14, 2024, includes six different Insignia model numbers. The CPSC advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled products and to follow specific instructions for refunds, which include submitting proof of destruction rather than returning the items to stores.
Best Buy is proactively reaching out to known customers to facilitate the recall process. While there have been 24 reports of product malfunctions, there are no reported injuries or property damage as of now.
