White County, IN – A New York man, Joshua Dozier, 23, led Indiana State Police on a multi-county pursuit yesterday afternoon following a reported theft at a Walmart in Monticello, Indiana.
According to Indiana State Police, a chase began after a State Trooper attempted to stop a 2023 Kia Sorento, believed to be involved in the theft, on County Road 300 East north of State Road 18 in White County. A pursuit continued through White and Tippecanoe Counties, with the Kia eventually crashing into a ditch on Soldiers Home Road.
Dozier, along with two other New York residents, Patrick Singleton and Quincy Brown, were apprehended. Singleton was allegedly found in possession of suspected marijuana. All three were taken to an area hospital for injuries sustained during the crash, and upon release, transported to the White County Jail.
The preliminary charges against Dozier include resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, reckless driving causing injury, organized retail theft, and theft. Brown and Singleton face charges related to alleged theft, including organized retail theft, and resisting law enforcement, with Singleton additionally charged for possession of marijuana.
An investigation into the theft is ongoing.
