NWS Confirms Tornado’s 9-Mile Path, Impacting Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, and Warrenville on Friday

CHICAGO, IL – The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed that an EF-0 tornado tore through Warrenville, Wheaton, and Glen Ellyn on Friday night. Additionally, Elk Grove Village was hit by strong straight-line winds. 

According to the National Weather Service Chicago, the tornado had peak wind speeds of 75 mph and traveled for 8.8 miles with a width of 400 yards. No fatalities or injuries were reported in any of the communities impacted by the storm.

In Elk Grove Village, widespread tree damage occurred, especially near Elk Grove High School, where peak winds reached approximately 80 mph. The NWS warns that the information is preliminary and subject to change pending further analysis.
