Oak Park, IL – In a proactive move to combat opioid overdoses, Oak Park has introduced seven overdose prevention boxes in public areas.

According to the Oak Park Police Department, these boxes are stocked with naloxone pouches, commonly known as Narcan, and instructions for administering first aid in case of an opioid overdose. Naloxone is a medication approved for effectively reversing the effects of overdoses from opioids, including heroin and certain prescription painkillers.

This initiative, backed by the Oak Park Health Department, aims to provide immediate access to life-saving interventions. More details about this initiative can be found on the Oak Park official website.
