One Dead Following Apartment Fire Reportedly Caused by Smoking in Hickory Hills

Hickory Hills, IL – One person was killed in an apartment fire in Hickory Hills overnight. 

According to Hickory Hills Police alongside the Roberts Park Fire Department and other local fire departments, responded to the fire in the 8700 block of West 80th Court.   On arrival two individuals were found inside the apartment and urgently transported to Christ Hospital. One was later pronounced dead.

Investigations by the State Fire Marshals, North Palos FD Fire Investigators, and Hickory Hills Police Department Detectives are ongoing. Early indications point to cigarette smoking in a bedroom as the likely cause of the fire. Further details await as the investigation progresses.
