Palos Park, IL – The Palos Park Police Department, with the support of federal agencies, has intensified efforts to locate a vehicle suspected of disseminating Ku Klux Klan flyers in local neighborhoods.
A surveillance image of the suspected vehicle distributed by the police displays a four-door SUV, which was captured by a residential Ring camera on Friday night during the time the flyers are believed to have been distributed, approximately between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m. The detailed image shows the vehicle with its headlights illuminated, hinting at the timing of the incident. The SUV’s distinct features could be key in aiding its identification. The investigation took a turn when it was discovered that the hateful flyers were strategically weighed down with bird seed inside plastic bags, possibly to prevent them from being blown away.
The PPPD has called on the Palos Park community to assist by examining their own surveillance footage, such as from Ring doorbells, and reporting any sightings or information related to the vehicle in question. With the involvement of federal agencies, the investigation underscores the seriousness with which the authorities are addressing this alarming expression of hate speech. The police are committed to ensuring the safety and peace of the community and are working diligently to trace the source of the flyers, taking all leads into consideration in this ongoing investigation.
