Peloton Recalls 2.2 Million Exercise Bikes in the US

CHICAGO, IL – Peloton is recalling over 2 million of its PL01 exercise bikes in the U.S. due to safety concerns.

The bike’s seat post assembly can break while in use, leading to fall and injury hazards. The bikes were sold between January 2018 and May 2023 for around $1,400 at Peloton, Dick’s Sporting Goods stores nationwide, and Amazon.

There have been 35 reports of seat posts breaking and detaching from the bike, resulting in 13 injuries, including lacerations and fractures.

Peloton is offering a free self-installation seat post to affected customers. The company’s shares dropped over 8% in Thursday afternoon trading.
