Quad Cities, IA/IL – Severe Storms Expected in Eastern Iowa, Northwest Illinois Friday

Morning commuters in eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois should prepare for severe weather, as a line of storms moves rapidly eastward.

According to the US National Weather Service Quad Cities, the storms, currently in eastern Iowa, are expected to hit Cedar Rapids and Iowa City by 7 AM, and the Quad Cities by 8 AM. Embedded tornadoes and damaging winds are the primary threats. Residents are advised to stay indoors and monitor weather updates.

This severe weather coincides with a weekend forecast of mixed storms and sunshine, potentially impacting Memorial Day plans.
