Rensselaer, IN – The Rensselaer Police Department, in collaboration with Jasper County and St. Joseph’s College officials, has made a significant breakthrough in a series of campus burglaries.
Joseph Black, a 34-year-old Rensselaer resident, has been identified as a suspect in the recent spate of thefts. According to the Rensselaer Police Department, the investigation was initiated in early January following a burglary report at a building on the St. Joseph’s College campus. This incident is part of a string of burglaries that have been under investigation for several months.
A search warrant executed at Mr. Black’s residence led to the discovery of items from the burglary, along with marijuana. Mr. Black was subsequently arrested and transported to the Jasper County Jail, facing charges of Burglary (Level 5 felony), theft, and possession of marijuana, both misdemeanors.
The investigation is ongoing, as authorities believe there may be additional individuals involved in the campus burglaries. The Rensselaer Police Department urges anyone with information to contact them at 219-866-7602.
