MANTENO, IL – Manteno students were brimming with excitement as they prepared for the first home football game of the season. However, a recent announcement on social media has left some local parents puzzled and students disheartened.

In a surprising turn of events, Manteno Schools declared Friday afternoon that elementary and middle school students could no longer attend football games without adult supervision.

In a recent online announcement, the school district outlined key expectations for fans attending home events to ensure safety for all. One notable rule is that young sports enthusiasts must be accompanied by an adult. The district has also banned sporting equipment and bags or backpacks for student spectators, limiting fans to the bleachers and concession area.

Manteno faced a tough defeat Friday in their first home game against Plano, with a final score of 29-0. Fans can look forward to their next home game, scheduled for next Friday against Herscher, with kickoff at 7 pm.

The debate continues among parents and students, questioning whether these measures are necessary or excessive. What remains clear is that Friday night lights in Manteno will now shine under stricter rules.
