KANKAKEE – A 16-year old juvenile was charged Wednesday with two counts of first degree murder and one count of aggravated battery with a firearm in connection with the murder of 15-year-old Maurice Wilson.

Wilson was found shot in the 100 block of North Washington Avenue early Saturday morning.  He was soon after transported to Ascension St. Mary Hospital where he died of his injuries.

“Following a hearing, the Court made a finding of probable cause and set the Defendant’s bond at $2,000,000.00.” Kankakee County State’s Attorney Jim Rowe announced Wednesday afternoon. “Thank you to the Detectives with the City of Kankakee Police Department for their tireless work over the past few days to gather evidence that led to these charges.  They have worked day and night in their pursuit of justice for Maurice, his family and the community.”

The Juvenile is currently in custody at the River Valley Juvenile Detention Center in Joliet.
