KANKAKEE, IL – A recent incident Friday in West Kankakee has prompted heightened community awareness as a teenager, identified by their Olivet Nazarene University attire, was captured on a Ring doorbell camera allegedly absconding with a package from a local homeowner’s porch.

In footage shared on the Neighbors App, a teenage duo can be seen in footage waiting by a homeowners door around 7 p.m. for two minutes before making off with the package. The incident has ignited concern among residents, emphasizing the importance of home security measures and prompt reporting of suspicious activities.

The unidentified homeowner expressed their concern on the Neighbors App, saying, “Missing packages. Whose children? Kids out selling discount cards, but once they noticed no one was home, they stole our package. So if you were missing any deliveries today and didn’t have a ring to catch them like we did. This is a possibility.”

Authorities are diligently investigating the incident and attempting to ascertain whether the teenager’s affiliation with Olivet Nazarene University played a role in the theft. As the situation unfolds, Kankakee officials are urging residents to take preventative measures, such as utilizing home security systems and tracking their deliveries.
