CHICAGO – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a recall of over 13,000 lbs of Home Run Inn Pizza due to the “possibility of metal pieces in the food.”

The agency issued the recall Sunday for the frozen pizza based out of Woodbridge, Illinois.

Specific products are 33.5 oz packages of Home Run Inn Chicago’s Premium Pizzeria Deluxe Sausage Classic Pizza.  The pizzas have a best-by date of December 3rd, 2022 and establishment number “EST. 18498-A.”

USDA officials report a distributor complained that metal had been found in a pizza, which lead to the recall.  No injuries have been reported with the issue.  Customers are urged to throw the pizzas out or return them to their place of purchase immediately.

Anyone with questions regarding the recall can contact the USDA directly at 888-674-6854.
