WATSEKA, IL – In response to the intensifying drought conditions, the City of Watseka announced Friday afternoon it has taken a proactive step by enforcing a ban on fireworks.

Effective immediately, all fireworks, including sparklers and firecrackers, are prohibited within the city limits. The dry environment has significantly increased the risk of fire outbreaks, necessitating the implementation of safety measures.

Officials are urging residents and visitors to adhere to the ban and explore alternative ways to celebrate special occasions. The Watseka Police Department will be actively enforcing the ban, and violations may result in penalties and fines.

The city is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates through official channels. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through the City of Watseka’s website and social media platforms.
