Wheaton, IL – Residents faced disruptions in garbage and recycling pickup this Friday due to severe snow conditions.
LRS, the service provider, suspended operations mid-route to ensure driver safety, leaving several Friday routes unattended. The city informs that services like garbage collection, recycling, and live Christmas tree pickup were affected.
With continued harsh weather expected into Saturday, LRS announced the inability to complete these routes over the weekend. Residents are advised to retract their garbage and recycling carts from curbsides. Wheaton households, particularly those whose service was skipped, should retain their waste until the next scheduled pickup on January 19.
For the upcoming collection, LRS will accommodate excess garbage and recyclables placed in contained manners next to the blue carts, without requiring stickers. Additionally, Christmas tree collection for Friday routes is extended by a week, also not necessitating a sticker for January 19 pickup.
