Chicago, IL – The National Weather Service has issued a warning for black ice formation across the Chicagoland area.

Due to the recent combination of wet conditions, strong winds at 35-50MPH, and a sudden drop in temperature, roads, sidewalks, and parking lots are at a high risk of rapid freezing. This sudden transformation into black ice poses a significant hazard for both pedestrians and motorists.

Authorities are urging residents to be extremely cautious when commuting and to avoid unnecessary travel if possible.
