Wheaton, IL – Robert Davison, 44, faces up to ninety years in the Illinois Department of Corrections following his conviction for sexually assaulting a woman near the Illinois Prairie Path in Wheaton. The DuPage County jury found Davison guilty of twelve counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault, a Class X Felony, and one count of Unlawful Restraint, a Class 4 Felony. The verdict was reached after a three-day trial and about two-and-a-half hours of jury deliberation.
The assault occurred on May 18, 2018, when the Wheaton Police Department responded to a call for help near the PADS Shelter. They found the victim with visible injuries, and investigation revealed that Davison had dragged her into a wooded area and sexually assaulted her. Davison was apprehended two days following the incident.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin emphasized the severe impact of the assault on the survivor, expressing hope for her recovery and the verdict’s role in her healing process. The sentencing for Davison is scheduled for March 7, 2024.
