KANKAKEE, IL – A night of gunfire unfolded in Kankakee as city police responded to three separate incidents of gunfire overnight Tuesday.

Two individuals were struck by bullets, raising concerns about safety in the area.

The first incident occurred around 10 p.m. in the 700 block of North Park Avenue, where a tranquil evening turned into a nightmare for residents. A 62-year-old man, whose identity remains undisclosed, was sitting on his porch when a hail of bullets rained down upon him. Struck multiple times, he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he currently clings to life in critical condition.

Just hours later, at 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning, the 1600 block of East Maple Street became the scene of another harrowing encounter. A 25-year-old man, whose name has not been released, suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being hit by a bullet. Although not critical, the incident serves as a chilling reminder of the violence that permeated the night.

In a third incident, recorded at approximately 2:15 a.m., gunfire echoed through the 700 block of North Harrison Avenue. Miraculously, no one was harmed in this instance, but the series of shootings has left the community shaken.

Local law enforcement is taking these incidents seriously and urges anyone with information to come forward. Authorities are seeking cooperation from residents, encouraging them to reach out to Crimestoppers at 815-93-CRIME to share any details that could aid in the investigation.
