According to the Manhattan Police Department, these scammers entice victims with the promise of up to $40 in commission and free products in exchange for their participation in the so-called test club. Residents are urged to scrutinize any unsolicited offers they receive in the mail, especially those requesting personal information.
The police emphasize that legitimate companies do not typically operate in this manner and that individuals should be wary of scanning QR codes or visiting websites linked from unsolicited mail.
