Roanoke, VA – Two Virginia men, Joseph Richard Walker and Garrett Isaac Williams, are facing serious federal charges after a planned robbery resulted in the death of a marijuana supplier.
According to an indictment issued on April 11, 2024, the men allegedly devised a scheme to confront their supplier over a $40,000 drug debt but reportedly intended to rob him instead. When the supplier arrived at Walker’s residence in southeast Roanoke on April 17, 2023, Walker allegedly shot him twice in the head, stole the marijuana, and attempted to eliminate evidence by burning the victim’s body in a rural area.
The charges against Walker and Williams include conspiracy to traffic marijuana, committing robbery, discharging a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, and arson. The rapid apprehension of the suspects within 48 hours of the murder showcases the coordinated efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, Virginia State Police, and local police departments.
