Sullivan, WI – Residents of Wisconsin experienced a rare celestial display as the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, appeared in vibrant colors across the night sky.

This stunning natural event occurred due to a powerful solar storm that recently hit Earth, allowing the colors usually visible near the poles to be seen as far south as Illinois. Spectators were awed by the waves of pink, purple, blue, and red that danced across the heavens.

According to the National Weather Service in Sullivan, this phenomenon occurs when solar radiation interacts with Earth’s magnetic field, energizing particles in the ionosphere and leading to these dramatic displays. Local enthusiasts and photographers captured the event, marking it as a memorable occurrence for many. The weekend forecast promises slightly warmer temperatures with a chance of brief showers on Sunday evening.
