North Little Rock, AR – An Arkansas man is behind bars this week after years on the run.

According to Arkansas State Police (ASP), 51-year-old Robert Daniel Payne Jr., from Sherwood, was arrested on Monday, March 11, 2024. Payne is facing eight counts related to the alleged distribution, possession, and viewing of child sexual exploitation material. His arrest came after a lengthy evasion period of over two years.

The arrest occurred at a restaurant on Warden Road in North Little Rock, conducted without any complications. This development follows a search warrant executed at Payne’s residence in August 2019, where agents seized electronic devices and gathered crucial evidence. Warrants for his arrest were subsequently issued in September 2021.

ASP Colonel Mike Hagar commended the dedication of the Criminal Investigations Division, stating, “This case shows that persistence pays off. I am so proud of our Criminal Investigations Division for never giving up the search for this suspect.” Following his arrest, Payne was transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center.
