Local Talent Shines: Kankakee Resident Among Brookfield Zoo Photo Contest Winners

Brookfield, Ill. — Kankakee resident, Karen Grillion, has made her hometown proud by securing third place in the mammal category at the Brookfield Zoo’s 2023 Photo Contest.

Out of more than 700 captivating submissions, Grillion’s photograph of an orangutan stood out. The contest saw numerous local residents showcasing their talent, with Katherine Ramirez of Des Plaines taking the grand prize for her bumblebee snapshot.
