WAGONER, CO — In a disturbing breach of trust, John and Carie Hallford of Return to Nature Funeral Home were arrested Wednesday amidst allegations involving 190 decomposed bodies found at their Colorado business.

Authorities, acting on an October 3rd report of a pungent odor, discovered the remains in horrific conditions—some not even in body bags. The Hallfords, who absconded following the initial report, allegedly gave out ‘fake’ remains to unsuspecting families.

Now, the couple faces an array of federal charges, including abuse of a corpse, theft, money laundering, and forgery. These allegations, pending a court ruling, have left the community in dismay and mourning.
