Illinois Department of Public Health announced today 227,628 COVID-19 tests have now been run by the State.
Of those, 45,883, or over 20% of all testing, has returned positive results to date. That includes 12,676 tests run in the past day with 1,980 new cases announced today.
Over the weekend, Illinois surpassed California in total COVID-19 cases.
In the past 24 hours, 50 new deaths were announced due to contraction of COVID-19, bringing Illinois fatalities due to the disease to 1,983 since the pandemic began.
The CDC issued six new symptoms of COVID-19 over the weekend. Those symptoms include chills, shaking, muscle pain, headaches, sore throat, and loss of taste and smell.
