CHANNAHON – Congressman Adam Kinzinger addressed an outbreak of COVID-19 Saturday afternoon at the LaSalle Veterans Home. As of Saturday, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported 45 infected at the LaSalle Veterans Home with no deaths reported to date.

“I’m deeply concerned about the coronavirus cases at the LaSalle Veterans Home and will keep the residents and employees in my prayers for a full and speedy recovery,” Kinzinger said in a statement. “ As we see the uptick of COVID-19 cases across Illinois and the country, it is paramount that we do all that we can to mitigate risks, especially when it comes to our most vulnerable population. My office will continue to support our VA community as we navigate this crisis together.”

LaSalle is one of four Veterans Homes in the state. Manteno is the only other state-run Veterans Home currently reporting active cases, now 19 including two deaths.

As of Saturday, 19 new active cases had been reported at the facility, with two deaths. Manteno Veterans’ first battle with COVID in April after a positive case was first reported at the Prince Home, a supportive unit of the Veteran’s Home.  That data reporting closed after at least 69 residents became infected, including 22 staff and 47 residents.

Earlier this year, Anna reported five cases before closing out active cases.  No deaths were reported at the Anna Veterans Home.

Quincy Veterans Home has not reported any cases.
