NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Seniors and their families in Naperville are urged to remain vigilant following a series of targeted jewelry thefts in retail center parking lots.

According to Naperville Police, in each incident, a cunning duo, consisting of a man and a woman, strikes up brief conversations with unsuspecting victims before adorning their wrists or necks with low-cost jewelry. In the blink of an eye, the thieves make off with valuable pieces, leaving the victims oblivious to the theft.

Reported incidents have taken place at various locations and times, including the Route 59 Costco on Tuesday, May 30, around 4 p.m., the H Mart on Ogden Avenue on Saturday, June 3, around 1 p.m., and the Naperville Fresh Market on 75th Street on Tuesday, June 6, around 3 p.m.

With the safety of our cherished seniors in mind, the Naperville Police Department emphasizes the importance of staying alert and cautious in parking lots. They recommend maintaining a safe distance from strangers and promptly reporting any suspicious activity to 9-1-1.
