Kankakee, IL – E.volve Clothing Company is open for business in downtown Kankakee. The new store is located inside the Burfield & Remington building at 150 N. Schuyler Avenue.

E.volve Business Owner, Christy Smith, has worked in retail for almost three years. Christy has a background in healthcare where she was a respiratory therapist, but said it has always been her dream to open a clothing store. Christy started her business out of her home and promoted her clothing line on Facebook. She then began to do pop ups throughout the community and traveled with her clothes for about 18 months. A year and a half later, Christy opened DressWell Boutique in April of 2018.

Originally from Chicago, the City of Kankakee stood out to Christy as she wanted to open E. volve in the heart of downtown. E. volve features unique pieces of clothing and accessories for men, women and children. Preparation for the new store took about 14 weeks to complete.

“We wanted to get it right. Everything you see in here from the lighting to the brick wall, we wanted to capture the essence of the historic value of this building being built in 1912. We also added modern day touches. There are so many other businesses in here that are absolutely amazing. For us, it’s a mix of excitement to be able to bring so many people here in the community to one place. This is what I chose to do. My heart is here. My family is here. I want to see this community grow,” said Owner of E.volve Clothing Company, Christy Smith.

E.volve held its grand opening on November 12, 2019. Mayor Wells-Armstrong stopped by to welcome the team to the community.

“It was hard to leave. Christy did an outstanding job with beautiful choices of clothing, as well as, the interior design and layout of the store. As I walked around, I felt that I was getting the best of both worlds; the history we have in downtown Kankakee mixed with the new things that are happening in our community. I’m thrilled she chose Kankakee as her second location, and wish her nothing but the best,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.

E.volve Clothing Company is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The store is closed on Sunday and Monday.
