NAPERVILLE, Ill. — A cloud of suspicion hangs over an Illinois man as he faces serious legal repercussions for his alleged involvement in a shocking theft from a local Boy Scout troop.
John R. Miller, 59, residing in Aurora, finds himself in the crosshairs of law enforcement after allegedly unauthorized checks totaling $21,838 were purportedly funneled into his personal bank account from the coffers of Naperville Boy Scout Troop 1776.
The investigation, launched in February 2023, brought to light a series of perplexing transactions that spanned from May 2021 to November 2022. Authorities from the Naperville Police uncovered evidence suggesting Miller’s direct involvement in the scheme, leading to his subsequent arrest on August 15, 2023.
Miller now faces a Class 2 Felony charge of Theft, casting a shadow over the reputation of a once-trusted community figure.
