Kankakee County, IL – Kankakee County steps up its commitment to public health and safety as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

This crucial event highlights the importance of proper disposal of unused or expired medications to prevent abuse and protect the environment. Residents can take action to make their homes safer by participating in the Take Back Day event this Saturday, April 27th, from 10 am to 2 pm at Northfield Square Mall.

The Pledge for Life Partnership Youth Advisory Council is collaborating with KAMEG to facilitate a drive-through drop-off initiative. Community members can conveniently dispose of medications by driving up to the east side of the mall, where a tent will be set up for easy and safe collection. In a unique community partnership, the Bradley Lions Club joins the effort, collecting used eyeglasses for sight preservation missions worldwide.

Adding another layer of community service, the Kankakee County Health Department will provide Naloxone distribution at the event. This lifesaving medication can reverse the effects of opioid overdose, including those from prescription drugs. The event promises to strengthen community bonds while promoting health and safety.
