Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Ezike updated the Veterans Home statistics earlier this afternoon.  Of those, Manteno Veterans Home is now reporting 40 cases of COVID-19 among residents and staff at the facility.

IDPH reported a sudden jump among residents in Manteno on Sunday afternoon.

“We have been tracking cases at the Illinois Veterans Homes, including forty current cases at the Manteno Veterans Home, thirty residents, and ten staff after testing of the entire facility.” Dr. Ezike announced Monday afternoon.

The updated numbers come after widespread testing at the Manteno Veterans Home.  On Saturday, IDVA released a statement alerting the community of a single case at the Veterans Home.

It’s the first time an outbreak has been confirmed by IDPH. IDVA officials have been following COVID-19 related cases at the Manteno Veterans home since April 6th.

One resident at the LaSalle home tested positive but has since tested negative, and there have been no cases reported at the Anna or Quincy homes.  All residents and staff at Manteno and LaSalle have been tested.
