Additional tornadoes from Monday’s storm that ravaged Illinois were confirmed on Wednesday, striking Plainfield, Ottawa and Kankakee communities.
Tornadoes hit Ottawa, Grant Park and Plainfield Monday afternoon, with the Plainfield tornado lingering nearly 15 miles before eventually lifting.
The storm that tracked across Plainfield began in southern Yorkville at 3:15 pm lifting in Plainfield.  Rotation continued into Crest Hill and Joliet but didn’t not return.  Winds hit 105 mph with the storm stretching across 250 yards at its peak.
Other tornadoes include a EF-1 tornado that hit Ottawa just before 3 pm that touched down just North of Fulton St and traveled three quarters of a mile before lifting as it crossed the Fox River. Winds from the storm hit 100 mph.
A Grant Park twister hit west of town on N 11000 Rd and traveled just south of the heart of town hitting several residences moving across Rt 1/17 before lifting near Lake Metonga.  That storm registered as an EF-0 with winds up to 80 mph.
By Wednesday afternoon, nearly 175,000 ComEd customers were without power across Illinois.
