Illinois runs over 20,000 COVID-19 tests in a day for the first time

Illinois Department of Public Health announced today 2,887 new COVID-19 cases today. That report follows the first 24-hour span where the state has ran over 20k tests in a 24 hour span.  Exactly 20,671 specimens were collected and examined in the last day.

An additional 130 deaths were announced by the State of Illinois this afternoon.  Of those announced deaths included a death of a male in his 70s in Kankakee County and the death of six Will County residents ranging in age from 70s to 90s.

Pope County began reporting cases today, becoming the 98th of Illinois 102 counties to announced cases of the Virus.  Nearly 400,000 tests have now been ran in the State since the pandemic began.
