The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has been called in to investigate an accident that occurred to a man during the Ashkum Fireworks show late Saturday night.

A man was seriously injured near the end of the show when fireworks prematurely exploded towards the end of the event.  Ashkum Fire Officials report the man suffered a possible skull fracture and was listed in serious but stable condition at an area hospital on Sunday.

No one else was reported injured during the explosion. Findings from the Department of Natural Resources are anticipated to be released in the coming weeks.
