The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about an emerging scam involving iTunes gift cards.

Scammers, impersonating local deputies, are calling residents and falsely claiming that they owe money for outstanding warrants. The fraudsters request payment via iTunes gift cards. The Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that legitimate law enforcement officers do not ask for bond payments through gift cards or any other unorthodox payment methods.

Residents receiving such calls are advised to immediately report them to their local law enforcement agency.
