Lombard, IL – On Saturday afternoon, Lombard Police and several neighboring law enforcement units swiftly converged on Yorktown Center Shopping Mall following reports of a potentially armed person on the premises.

The alert, which was issued around 4:10 p.m., prompted an immediate and extensive response from officers. Upon securing the scene, authorities confirmed that the threat was unsubstantiated and assured there was no danger to public safety.

According to Lombard Police, the incident is being treated as a swatting call, where a false report was deliberately made to trigger a heavy police response. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origins of the hoax and to identify those responsible. This act of swatting, involving misuse of emergency services, remains a serious concern and carries severe consequences.
