KANKAKEE, IL – A routine evening turned alarming at Family Dollar in Meadowview Shopping Center, Kankakee, when an employee became the victim of a robbery.
According to police reports it happened Thursday night just before 6 p.m. when City Police responded to a distressing scene following a panic alarm. Upon arrival, officers found the shaken employee outside the store, who recounted a terrifying ordeal. Two assailants, described as black males dressed in all black with ski masks, had forcefully robbed the employee of cash and inflicted physical harm. Witnesses reported the suspects fleeing southbound on foot, sparking an immediate police search.
Detectives have since been scouring the area, interviewing witnesses, and seeking surveillance footage to piece together this shocking event. The Kankakee Police Department is calling for community assistance.
