OSWEGO, IL – A semi-truck and a passenger vehicle crash led to the shutdown of Route 30 in Oswego for over an hour on Thursday afternoon.
At 3:57 p.m., Oswego Police responded to a multi-vehicle accident near Route 30 and Treasure Drive. According to reports, the incident began when an Acura TL, heading west on Route 30, collided with the trailer of an eastbound semi-truck. The impact caused the Acura to veer off the road into a ditch.
The Acura’s driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was promptly taken to Rush Copley Hospital. Debris from the semi’s trailer hit a Jeep Patriot also traveling east on Route 30. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported, the Acura’s driver was cited for Improper Lane Usage.
This accident led to significant traffic disruptions. Route 30 was closed between Route 34 and Wolf Road for about 70 minutes, causing delays and diversions. The scene was cleared, and the route reopened later in the evening.
