Vernon Hills, IL – Police discovered a married couple deceased in their home on Cherry Valley Road early Tuesday morning.
According to police reports a 67-year-old woman and 77-year-old man suffered fatal gunshot wounds in what is being investigated as a possible murder-suicide. Authorities pronounced the couple dead at the scene and recovered a firearm in the home.
According to Vernon Hills police, there were no signs of forced entry, suggesting a domestic incident. The Lake County Major Crimes Task Force is assisting in the ongoing investigation. The community has been assured there is no further threat to public safety. Identification of the deceased is pending confirmation from the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
