Woodstock, IL – The McHenry County Government Center in Woodstock, Illinois, experienced a significant disruption today following the discovery of a suspicious package.
According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department, the package, found at the center’s east public entrance around 1:30 p.m., prompted an immediate response. This resulted in a two-hour evacuation of the Government Center and a lockdown of the adjacent jail. The Kane County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad, called in to inspect the package, eventually deemed it safe. Despite the inconvenience and temporary halt in normal operations, there were no reported injuries.
Officials continue to investigate the origin of the package. The identity and motives of the individual responsible, described as a white female driving a white GMC truck, remain under investigation. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Department is actively seeking information from the public to aid in this ongoing case.
