Joliet, IL – A severe four-car collision on Thursday night at the intersection of Chicago St. and Louis Rd. in East Joliet has left one person in critical condition, with several others injured.
According to first responders the crash occurred around 10 PM, involving a vehicle that caught fire upon impact.The East Joliet Fire Department reported that Engine 51 was first on the scene, confronting flames and extensive damage. Ambulance 51 began triage operations immediately, identifying one individual with life-threatening injuries (categorized as black), two with serious but non-life-threatening conditions (yellow), and one with minor injuries (green).
In response to the severe nature of the incident, Battalion Chief 61 requested a special signal 10-79, bringing additional emergency units to the site. Responding teams included Chief 52, New Lenox Ambulance 63 and Battalion Chief 61, Joliet Fire Department Truck 1 with Battalion Chief 1 and Company 3, and Elwood Ambulance 615. These units are focused on extinguishing the fire, providing critical care, and managing the aftermath of the collision.
