Indiana Motorcyclist Seriously Injured after Colliding with Deer

Marshall County, IN – Early this morning in Marshall County, a motorcyclist was seriously injured after his vehicle collided with a deer. 

According to Indiana State police reports the incident occurred at approximately 5:40 a.m. on Nutmeg Road. Indiana State Police report that Michael Reece, 71, of Culver, IN, was traveling southbound on his 1997 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he struck a deer just north of 16th Road. The collision caused Reece to lose control and slide off the road.

According to investigators, Reece was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. He was transported by Argos EMS to a waiting helicopter, which airlifted him to a Fort Wayne hospital. The injuries sustained are serious but not expected to be life-threatening.
