Northern Indiana Braces for Severe Weather Threat Today

Fort Wayne, IN – Residents across Northern Indiana should prepare for a series of severe weather events slated for today, May 7, 2024. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Northern Indiana has escalated the severe storm risk to an enhanced level three out of five, indicating that multiple severe weather hazards are possible, including damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes.

According to the NWS, the primary window for severe weather is between 2 PM and 10 PM EDT. The early afternoon may see less severe conditions, but confidence grows for more intense storms later in the day. The highest risk areas include Fort Wayne, Warsaw, and surrounding communities, which may experience significant storm impacts.
