Indiana Girl, 7, Loses Foot in Lawnmower Accident

DeKalb County, IN – A seven-year-old girl sustained severe injuries and underwent amputation after a horrific lawnmower accident in DeKalb County Saturday evening. 

The incident occurred when her uncle, operating the lawnmower, accidentally backed over her while she was playing behind him, unaware of her presence. According to DeKalb County Authorities, officers were called to the scene following reports of a child severely injured by a lawnmower. The initial assessment at the scene was grim, with reports indicating that the girl’s leg had been cut in half. Emergency services rushed her to a nearby hospital, where doctors were forced to amputate her leg near the ankle due to the extent of her injuries.

The young girl has already undergone multiple surgeries to address her wounds and prevent further complications. The community has shown an outpouring of support for the family, helping them cope with the physical and emotional toll of this tragic event.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging residents to exercise increased caution with children around heavy machinery to prevent similar accidents.
